At Pipe Organ Specialists, we are dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and maintenance of pipe organs across Southern Africa. Since our founding in 2020, we have established ourselves as a trusted solution hub for churches, universities, schools, and private collectors.
Our mission is to cooperate with skilled technicians from diverse backgrounds in organ building, providing comprehensive support and technical assistance to churches, institutions, and fellow technicians. Our fully equipped workshop in Gezina, Pretoria, serves as the technical heart of our operations. Here, we handle everything from delicate pipe voicing to complete mechanical rebuilds, ensuring every instrument receives the meticulous attention it deserves.
Whether you need routine maintenance, emergency repairs, or a comprehensive restoration project, our team combines traditional craftsmanship with modern diagnostic tools to deliver exceptional results. We pride ourselves on our ability to work on organs of all sizes and complexities—from intimate chapel organs to grand cathedral installations.
Our commitment extends beyond South Africa, with active projects in Namibia and Zimbabwe, including the historic 1911 Pneumatic action organ in Swakopmund.
Founded on Excellence
Archie
Founder & Master Organ Builder
Archie founded Pipe Organ Specialists in 2020 with a vision to create a collaborative network of highly skilled organ technicians, providing expert support and technical solutions across Southern Africa.
His journey in organ building began with intensive training under renowned Dutch organ builder Mr. Limbert Jan Zielman from 2010 to 2015, where he mastered the traditional European techniques of pipe organ construction and restoration. This foundation was further strengthened through mentorship with Gene Bedient of Bedient Organ Builders USA during two intensive projects in 2016.
From 2016 to 2019, Archie was permanently employed at Prestant Orrelbouers, where he honed his craft on prestigious projects including organs at UNISA, University of Pretoria, Northwest University, and Holy Nativity Cathedral PMB, among many others.

Our workshop in Gezina, Pretoria, is equipped with specialized tools and machinery for every aspect of pipe organ work—from precision pipe making and metal casting to complex windchest repairs and console electronics.
We maintain a comprehensive inventory of materials, replacement parts, and historical components, allowing us to complete most repairs in-house without delays. Our climate-controlled environment ensures optimal conditions for delicate restoration work.
